Völkl is known for producing the highest quality wood cores. Wood cores provide the ultimate smoothness, power, stability, and durability for high performance skiing. Völkl engineers have re-designed our wood cores from top to bottom for 2006/2007. In general, the size and resilience of the wood cores increase as the performance goes up, throughout the line. EXTENDED SENSORWOOD CORE 1 Extended Sensorwood Cores are created in a complex CNC milling process. The core is ?extended? upward and lengthwise, milled to form the chambers of the Extended Double Grip construction. Found in Völkl?s highest performing models. SENSORWOOD CORE 2 The Sensorwood core is also CNC milled using vertically laminated poplar and beech wood. EXTENDED WOOD CORE 3 Also used with Extended Double Grip is the Extended Wood Core. Two full-length sections follow the sides of the ski. Each is laminated to a bottom layer of titanium, forming the ski?s ?backbone.? The top of each section is milled to adapt tothe Motion iPT interface. TIP-2-TAIL WOOD CORE 4 As the name suggests, the Tip-2-Tail Wood Core extends from tip to tail. It is surrounded by PU and glass, and is used inside the Double Grip LT construction. DUAL WOOD CORE 5 The Dual Wood Core is similar to the Tip-2-Tail Wood Core, but does not extend as far toward the tip and tail. Surrounded by PU, this core is combined with the Double Grip LT construction in mid-range skis in the Supersport and Unlimited Series.
