After needing 1.5 months of training to loosen my muscles again, I needed something to protect my healing collar bone from the inadvertent bad falls that occur in aikido (such as when the person throwing me loses his balance while throwing me). I was originally looking for a compression shirt, but discovered McDavid makes padded compression shirts. I get 2 for 1 protection: protection from sudden jolts that could cause my loosening muscles to spaz up again, and padding for my sensitive side.. After 2 evenings of aikido, I am impressed with the product.. I've taken all my rolls with the sensitivity eliminated.. I've even taken a fall on the bad shoulder from a poor koshi-nage by my partner (he fell trying to hip-throw me).. The sweat wicking properties are impressive too.. Because the product is skin tight, sweat is beaded away from my body quickly, and yet my body's temperature is regulated by the "wet suit" effect.. I never thought anything could outperform my Lululemon silverescent sweat top.. Besides providing physical protection coming back from a shoulder/collar bone injury, this also helps with the "mental blocks" prevalent in healing athletes.. The most common cause of reinjury is miscompensation from fear.. This is that mental flincing effect that causes us to move incorrectly, thereby reinjuring ourselves.. Because of the physical security this shirt provides, the mental insecurities are slowly laid to rest.. I am so pleased with this product, I have just ordered McDavid's none padded version of this shirt.. A STRONGLY RECOMMENDED PRODUCT..
